This Latin term is currently used in English in regard to Semitic writing. At this point I'm assuming the term was also used by Latin speakers who must've studied Hebrew and Aramaic grammar as used in the Old Testament. But I could be wrong and perhaps the term was invented by English speakers in more modern times. — Hippietrail 09:03, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)
