nodot

[edit]
Moved from doc page. —Nils von Barth (nbarth) (talk) 13:13, 20 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Setting "nodot=1" suppresses the dot that would otherwise appear at the end of the text the template generates. - -sche (discuss) 04:07, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Period

[edit]

The period needs to be removed: Currently this template creates a period at the end of the definition. It should also be removed for the following reasons:

  1. aesthetic reasons
  2. Since the template creates sentence fragment definitions, periods should not be used at the end of the phrase.
  3. The template creates sentence fragments. Thus, it is grammatically incorrect to use a period.

Default settings for capitalization and period

[edit]

There can be either:

  • -capitalization -period, or
  • +capitalization +period

Right now there iz +capitalization -period, which looks ugly. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 14:51, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

This should really be discussed for all form-of entries, as they share the same code. But it also depends on whether we want capitalised definitions with a period anyway, which is still up in the air. —CodeCat 15:10, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

The |from= parameter uses Module:labels/data/topical and not Module:labels/data/subvarieties

[edit]
* {{alt form|ko|foobar|from=Gyeongsang|from2=psychology}}
* {{lb|ko|Gyeongsang|psychology}}

This seems backwards to me. Surely it is more likely that a lect is placed in |form=, and not a topical label? —Suzukaze-c (talk) 00:32, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Suzukaze-c: Hmm, looks like this template is using all the label data, but it's not applying the full formatting logic (for instance adding a Wikipedia link) that {{lb}} does in export.show_labels in Module:labels; compare export.show_from in Module:labels/templates, which this template uses. — Eru·tuon 03:36, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

This should work with q1, q2, q3 etc. like the synonym template

[edit]

For consistency, e.g. {{alt|en|zabti|jupti|q2=obsolete|zapti|q3=obsolete}}. Equinox 21:17, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
