Help in creating new entries[edit]

Aren't there any among the nearly 1 billion speakers of Hindi who would be able to assist in the creation of these new entries? 173.89.236.187 19:40, 3 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

We don't have Indian editors. I could make a racist comment here. --Vahag (talk) 21:51, 3 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Racism here is uncalled for but it seems Indians enjoy replacing their native languages with English by refusing to select a national language, which comes from India. Why Bollywood movies are discussed by Indians in English? I don't find Devanagari too hard to master, why do Indians refuse to use it? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 01:11, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

I do see native speakers of Dravidian languages from South Indian languages contributing here in their languages. 173.89.236.187 04:02, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Well, you're asking rhetorical questions. Why is there no tower in the centre of this town but there is one in the other one? Because no-one was interested to build it here but not so in the other town. Everything is made on enthusiasm of contributors here, not necessarily native speakers. Why don't you contribute on a regular basis? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 04:33, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

I contribute several dozen edits per day, every day for about the past 10 years. 173.89.236.187 04:48, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

I see you're contributing a lot by asking questions and making good entries "in need of attention". That's not right. If you have questions, pls use the Tea room. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 05:02, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

No, but it is an interesting observation, that from a country with 1.252 billion people we have only one editor, and he does Telugu. From 5.4m Finland we have like 10 editors. --Vahag (talk) 09:02, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not defending their absence but this just tells me that Indians don't give a damn or care little about Wiktionary or native languages. Or they don't think that (the English) Wiktionary is a good place to promote their languages. Internet penetration is high and national languages are on the rise but it seems English is used much more than anything else by Indians. --Anatoli T. (3 years later) Will someone create the needed Hindi entries? 173.88.246.138 23:54, 31 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@173.88.246.138: Why not YOU create em? -- dictātor·mundī 23:41, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

अमुल्य[edit]

Can I delete this entry "अमुल्य"? As Gotitbro pointed, that's a misspelling. Lightbluerain (Talk | contribs) 04:32, 28 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Seems like someone has now deleted it. -- dictātor·mundī 23:40, 29 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Inqilābī:, no. It is still there. This is the first entry on the page. Lightbluerain (Talk | contribs) 03:21, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Lightbluerain: The entry was never there; I think you meant to remove the word from the list. But nevertheless, अमुल्य is an attested word ([1], [2], [3]), so it’s entry-worthy: we create entries for common misspellings. -- dictātor·mundī 22:33, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I saw you created the entry, so now I removed that. Lightbluerain (Talk | contribs) 03:39, 1 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
