Tocharian B

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

From Proto-Tocharian *āikäre (whence also Tocharian A ekär), of uncertain further origin. Possibly from the intensive prefix *e(n)- + *iäkre, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₁eg- (to lack). If so, from the same source as yäk- (to neglect) and Latin egeo, etc.
