Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish كاروانسَرای (karvanseray), كَروانسَرای (kervanseray), from Persian کاروانسرای (kârvânsarây), from کاروان (kârvân, caravan) + سرای (sarây, courtyard; dwelling; palace). See caravane and sérail.
