From Proto-Albanian *ðámba-, from Pre-Proto-Albanian *j́amba-, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵómbʰos (tooth, peg) (compare English comb, Greek γομφίος (gomfíos, molar), Serbo-Croatian zȗb (tooth)).[2][3]
