Etymology

[edit]

From domnia < domn + ta.

Pronunciation

[edit]
  • IPA(key): /dum.ne̯aˈta/
  • Audio:(file)

Pronoun

[edit]

dumneata (genitive/dative dumitale)

  1. you (singular, polite)

Usage notes

[edit]

Dumneata is more polite than tu, but less formal than dumneavoastră. It uses the second-person singular conjugated form of the verb, as with tu. Note that dumneata is also rather rare, for the most part being replaced by dumneavoastră.
