Etymology

Unknown. Even though problematic, it could derive from a diminutive in -zë of (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *ewd-, from *h₂weyd- (to sing), compare Ancient Greek ᾆσμα (âisma) and ᾠδή (ōidḗ).
