From Maghrebi Arabic زَنْبُوجة (zanbūja), زَبُّوجة (zabbūja), singulative of زَنْبُوج (zanbūj), زَبُّوج (zabbūj), eventually probably from Berber. Cognate with Moroccan Arabic زبوزة (zebbuza), زبوجة (zebbuja, “(wild) olive tree”).
