Etymology

Learnedly, from the Hellenistic Koine Greek ἀνταμοιβή (antamoibḗ, exchange), from the mediopassive verb of Ancient Greek ἀνταμείβομαι (antameíbomai, give back in exchange).[1] The stem αμοιβ- by vowel gradation. Morphologically, from αντ- (αντι-) (counter) +‎ αμοιβή (fee).
