Compound of *мора (*mora, sea) +‎ боʼк (boˀk, fire, light from a fire source) with Proto-Ketic *-d (her, its, third person singular feminine- or inanimate-class possessive clitic) stitched in.[1]

The first element of the compound, *мора, does not exist in Ket by itself, being directly borrowed from Russian море (more, sea) instead.
