Bashkir

Etymology

From *učuz "cheap", from Proto-Turkic *ōču- (get smaller).

Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (učuz, small, insignificant; cheap); Turkish ucuz (cheap).

The Bashkir form was apparently reinterpreted as having the abessive ending (<sïz/siz).

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [ʊ̞s.ˈhʊ̞ð]
  • Hyphenation: ос‧һоҙ

Adjective
