From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old Georgian ასი (asi), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Kartvelian *as₁-. Cognate with Mingrelian ოში (oši), Laz ოში (oşi) and Svan აშირ (ašir).

Old Georgian

Etymology

According to Fähnrich and Klimov (1985), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Kartvelian *as₁-. However, Klimov reconstructs Common-Kartvelian *as₁ir- (hundred) in his later works and adds that it might be borrowed from a (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "sem" is not valid.
