From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old Georgian ბადე (bade). Ultimately from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Kartvelian *bad- (net, cobweb). Cognate with Svan ბა̈დ (bäd), ბად (bad) and Laz ბოდა (boda, net for gathering fruit).
