Etymology
From Old Georgian ნავი (navi), probably from an Iranian source; compare Middle Persian [script needed] (nāw /nʾw/, “ship”), Persian ناو (nāv, “boat”). Alternatively, according to Ačaṙyan and Illič-Svityč (apud Martirosyan), from Old Armenian նաւ (naw).
