Old Armenian

Etymology

Probably from the stem vowel -a- + (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *-k(o)- suffix. Compare -ոք (-okʻ).

Suffix

-աք (-akʻ)

  1. A suffix found in թանաք (tʻanakʻ), սլաք (slakʻ) and probably արտաքին (artakʻin), արտաքս (artakʻs). The -kʿ- in ներքին (nerkʻin), ներքոյ (nerkʻoy) is probably of the same origin.
