An elative adjective, from the root و س ط (w-s-ṭ); compare وَسْط (wasṭ, center).

أَوْسَط (ʔawsaṭ) (feminine وُسْطَى (wusṭā), masculine plural أَوَاسِط (ʔawāsiṭ), feminine plural وُسَط (wusaṭ))
