Swedish

Etymology

From våt (wet), compare väta (to wet), after French hydrogène. Coined by Swedish scientists Pehr von Afzelius and Anders Gustaf Ekeberg in 1795. Analogue with syre (oxygen) and kväve (nitrogen).
