bluaj
Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *mlē(n-), from Proto-Indo-European *melh1- (“to crush, grind”). Cognate to Old Church Slavonic mlětь (mlětĭ, “to grind”).[1] Alternatively, according to Orel, from Latin molere "to grind", with the same buccalization of m before l as seen in bletë from melitta,[2] though note that others such as Demiraj also derive bletë itself from Proto-Albanian, albeit with the same shift of m to b before l nonetheless.
Verb
bluaj (aorist blova, participle bluar)
- I grind
