Description
English: Smiling wild harbor seal (Phoca vitulina) at Jökulsárlón (Iceland). Jökulsárlón is a glacier lagoon connected to the Atlantic ocean. The fish go to the lagoon to take advantage of the nutrients released by the glacier. This in turn attracts seals to the lagoon where they can feed on the fish. The blocks of ice floating in the water from the melting glacier are also used by the seals to bask.
