Near Prineville, Oregon, "going batting" means hunting for the actual vampire-like mammals and not hitting the cages!
A group of employees from the BLM's Prineville District and the Ochoco National Forest along with several volunteers headed out to participate in the 2012 Oregon Bat Grid Surveys.
These surveys are designed to gather information about bat species. Surveyors record bat calls and check overall bat health.
