മലയാളം: അമുൺ ദേവന്റെ പ്രതിമ. തീബീസ്, സുമാർ 2000 ബിസി. പെൻസിൽ‌വാനിയ സർ‌വകലാശാലയുടെ ശേഖരത്തിൽ നിന്ന്. ആദ്യകാലങ്ങളിൽ ഈജിപ്തിലെ സൃഷ്ടിദേവനായി സങ്കല്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന അമുൺ പിൽക്കാലത്ത് മെം‌ഫിസ് നഗരത്തെ പിന്നിലാക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് ഈജിപ്തിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനമായി വികസിച്ച തീബീസ് നഗരത്തിന്റെ അധിദേവനായും സം‌രക്ഷകനായും ആരാധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അമുൺ-റാ എന്ന മറ്റൊരു രൂപത്തിൽ അമുൺ ദേവനെ ഈജിപ്ഷ്യൻ ജനത സൂര്യദേവനായും ആരാധിച്ചിരുന്നു. മനുഷ്യരൂപത്തിൽ മാത്രമല്ല, വളഞ്ഞ കൊമ്പുകളുള്ള മുട്ടനാട്, പാമ്പ്, വാത്തപ്പക്ഷി എന്നിവയുടെ രൂപത്തിലും അമുൺ ദേവനെ ആരാധിച്ചിരുന്നു. Amun was earlier regarded as the creator god, but later in the history of ancient Egypt, he was adopted as the state god and protector of the Egyptian capital city of Thebes after Memphis first decline of Memphis. Apart from the usual human figure, representations of this deity also takes the form of animals such as the ram, the snake and the goose. |
