Usage

This template may be used on Wiktionary entry pages to quote Anthony Wood's work Athenæ Oxonienses. An Exact History of All the Writers and Bishops who have had Their Education in the Most Ancient and Famous University of Oxford […] (1st edition, 1691–1692, 2 volumes). It can be used to create a link to an online version of the work at Google Books; both volumes of the work appear on the same webpage:

• Volume I (archived at the Internet Archive).
• Volume II (archived at the Internet Archive).

Parameters

The template takes the following parameters:

• |1= or |volume= – mandatory: the volume number quoted from in uppercase Roman numerals, either |volume=I or |volume=II.
• |2=, |chapter=, or |entry= – the name of the chapter or entry quoted from.
• |3= or |column=, or |columns= – mandatory in some cases: the column number(s) quoted from. When quoting a range of columns, note the following:
  • Separate the first and last columns of the range with an en dash, like this: |columns=10–11.
  • You must also use |columnref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the column on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

You must specify this information to have the template link to the online version of the work.

• |4=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage quoted from the work.
• |footer= – a comment on the passage quoted.
• |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
