Documentation for Template:kl-suffix. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

Use this template on the headword line for Greenlandic suffixes (the derivational ones, not the inflectional suffixes nor the enclitic particles). The first unnamed parameter should be either v-n, v-v, n-n or n-v meaning nominalizing, vebal, nominal or verbalizing, respectively. The second unnamed parameter should be trunc or add, short for truncative and additive, respectively. Additionally, there are several named parameters that may be used to make the reader aware of various other morphological properties (based on Vestgrønlandsk grammatik, p. 73 and forwards).

  • fusion: Fusioning (e.g. meeraq + -lisor = meeqqisarpoq).
  • var-vowel=1: The initial vowel will assimilate with the final vowel of the base if it is short; if it is long, a -j- will be inserted.
  • j-assim=kk, r, tt, rt: The initial j of the suffix will assimilate in that manner with base-final consonant or r.
  • vowel-link=v, j, g: The suffix will use that consonant when appended to a long-vowel stem.
  • ia-aja=1: The -ia- in the beginning of this suffix will become -aja- before -ə (which is apparently also written i2 or ï, so maybe change the text) and -a.
  • recess=1: An r appears in the beginning of this suffix when it is appended to vowel base.
