Attested as Toovre in Medieval Galician documents[1] and as Talobre in local Medieval Latin documents. From a Celtic composite noun *Talobrix, from the deuterotheme *brixs (hill) and a prototheme derived from Proto-Celtic *talu- (forehead > top).[2]
