Hyponym[edit]

I'm not exactly sure if the terms "teenager", "teen" and "adolescent" should be considered hyponyms of the term "child". Common usage often distinguishes them from children, for example "children and teenagers/adolescents". While they are often called children in certain contexts, there are times where they are not considered children. Whether or not a teenager is considered a "child" in common use is highly dependent on context. Furthermore, not all of the teenage/adolescent range is commonly defined as a child; for instance, 19 year olds are teenagers/adolescents yet are seldom considered "children".
