Noun

amœboids

  1. plural of amœboid
    • 1904, J. D. E. Holmes, in Journal of Comparative Pathology and Therapeutics, W. & A. K. Johnston; Volume XVII, page 213:
These amœboid bodies develop by stages, in which an undulating membrane and a flagellum appear and the protoplasm gradually approaches the mature form, or they again undergo segmentation into a number of smaller amœboids, which go through a similar process of development and finally arrive at the mature flagellate organism.
