From Medieval Latin *būra, from Middle High German biuteln, biūtel, from Old High German butil (“pouch, bag”), from Proto-Germanic *buzdô (“beetle, grub, swelling”), from Proto-Indo-European *bʰūs- (“to move quickly”). Cognate with Dutch buidel.[1]
