Catalan

Etymology

From a variant of Lua error in Module:etymology at line 150: Old Occitan (pro) is not set as an ancestor of Catalan (ca) in Module:languages/data/2. The ancestor of Catalan is Old Catalan (roa-oca). (compare Occitan embonígol), from a Vulgar Latin *umbilīculus, diminutive of Latin umbilīcus, with agglutination of a preceding definite article in Catalan (l'ombrígol). Compare also the development of French nombril, Romanian buric. The Latin derives from Proto-Indo-European *h₃nobʰilos (navel), from *h₃nebʰ-.
