Old Norse

Etymology

Same as English maple. Perhaps from a blend of the earlier Proto-Germanic *apulaz (apple) (whence Old Norse mǫsurr), and *masuraz (knob, veiny wood (such as maple)). From the latter one comes Old Norse mǫsurr.
