From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Balto-Slavic *ting-, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *tn̥gʰ-. Cognate with Proto-Slavic *tęžьkъ (heavy), Old Norse þungr (heavy) and Proto-Iranian *θanǰáyati.
