ψυχ- (psych-, psyh-) +‎ ιατρικός (iatrikós, medical). A learned borrowing from French psychiatrique, from psychiatrie + -ique. See Ancient Greek ψυχή f (psukhḗ, soul) and ἰατρικός (iatrikós).
