[edit]Cognate with Ukrainian ві́я (víja), Old Czech vějička (“eyelid”). May be related to Proto-Slavic *věďa (“eyelid”); alternatively, from Proto-Slavic *věja (“tree branch”), or directly derived from ве́яць (vjéjacʹ).
