Partial calque of Old Polish ogurek (whence modern Polish ogórek), borrowed from Byzantine Greek, from Ancient Greek ᾰ̓γγούρῐον (angoúrion), from ᾰ̓́γγουρον (ángouron). First attested in 1519.
