Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit *𑀧𑀸𑀭𑀸𑀯𑀬 (*pārāvaya), *𑀧𑀸𑀭𑀸𑀬 (*pārāya), from Sanskrit পাৰাৱত (pārāvata). Cognate with Kamta পাৰো (parü), Sylheti ꠙꠣꠞꠧ (faro), Bengali পায়রা (paẏora), Odia ପାରା (para), Nepali परेवा (parewā).
