From Proto-Iranian *Br̥jiyah. Equivalent to *br̥diš (high) +‎ -𐎡𐎹 (-i-y /⁠-yaʰ⁠/, adjectival suffix).[1][2][3] Compare with Avestan 𐬠𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬰𐬌𐬌𐬀𐬭𐬱𐬙𐬌 (bərəziiaršti) and 𐬠𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬰𐬌𐬱𐬥𐬎 (bərəzišnu).[1]
