  • The direction "Georgian <= Armenian <= Old Armenian" is to much doubtful, but at this very moment it's ok.

Regarding to Laz, it can't be from armenian, because the world is used only in Chkhala (Laz.: ჩხალა, Tr.: Düzköy) subdialect of Hopa dialect (with a huge influence of literary language/Georgian on it) and isn't attested in any other dialects. Atina-Artasheni dialect (with Vija subdialect) uses "ჩერეჭი" (t͡ʃeret͡ʃʼi), Vitze-Arkabi and Hopa itself uses "ქერეჭი" (keret͡ʃʼi). Both from turkish "kireç". - Abkhazian1 (talk) 22:58, 25 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ačaṙean does not say Laz is directly from Armenian. He says all the Caucasian words were ultimately mediated by Armenian. There is no other root for a Semitic word to appear in the Caucasus. --Vahag (talk) 08:11, 26 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
