Capitalised Cyrillic РЕСТОРАН (ресторан) indeed looks like Roman PECTOPAH. Do we really need them, though? We could also have KOMHATA because it looks like КОМНАТА (комната) and many others. --Anatoli 03:58, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

I don’t see how it hurts anything, and I’ve seen Americans write it for a long time. If somebody wants to know what it means, it needs either an entry or a redirect. I don’t think it deserves a separate entry, hence the redirect. I haven’t seen anyone write komhata, though. I suppose it’s because tourists are not likely to see many big signs that say комната, but every tourist to Russia encounters ресторан. —Stephen ^(Talk) 04:29, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

I see your point. Perhaps, the redirects should be capitalised, then they will also be immediately recognisable. "pectopah" doesn't look like "ресторан" to me but "PECTOPAH" does. Typing in the search window immediately converts the word to the upper case, if the entry exists in the upper case. What do you think? --Anatoli 04:53, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps so. I know that people used to capitalize it, but in recent years some have stopped this practice because writing in all-caps is often considered a form of yelling. I suppose that either way would access the redirect without any problem. —Stephen ^(Talk) 05:00, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
