Etymology[edit]

Ultimately possibly onomatopoeic, as may also be kliùrti (to become loose, ill) and klerkė́ti (to buzz, purr).[1] Has also been connected to Albanian qurra (snot).[2]

šliùrti (third-person present tense šliū̃ra, third-person past tense šliū̃ro)

  1. to become wet under the rain
  2. to become dirty
  3. (impersonal) to drizzle, sleet
    Synonyms: dárganoti, lynóti
