Maltese[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Arabic بُزَيْزة (buzayza), diminutive of بِزّ (bizz). For the loss of initial b- compare Algerian Arabic زيزة (zīza, breast”, also “vulva” and “little boy’s penis).

Pronunciation[edit]

Noun[edit]

żejża f (plural żejżiet)

  1. a woman’s breast
    Synonym: (both breasts collectively) sider

Usage notes[edit]

  • Żejza does not appear to be a particularly vulgar word in Maltese, though sider is the normal choice unless it is necessary to refer to one organ individually.
