[edit]Borrowed from English ginger, ultimately from Late Ancient Greek ζιγγίβερις (zingíberis), from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀲𑀺𑀁𑀕𑀺𑀯𑁂𑀭 (siṃgivera). See ginger for more. Doublet of ζιγγίβερη (zingíveri), inherited from Ancient Greek.
