Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

A humorous misspelling of Росси́я (Rossíja), possibly playing with the word рои́ться (roítʹsja, to swarm, to crowd).

This misspelling first appeared from a 2008 photo of a belt buckle. It became popular as a mockery of Dmitry Medvedev's article "Росси́я, вперёд (Rossíja, vperjód)" and the patrotic slogan "вперёд, Росси́я (vperjód, Rossíja)" (both meaning "Forward, Russia!").
