Etymology[edit]

From *aldaqčï "liar", derived from *aldağ "lie" + -čï' "agent noun affix".

*aldağ is an action noun for the verb alda- "to lie", derived from Proto-Turkic *āl (lie, deceit).

Cognate with Tatar алдакчы (aldaqçı), Uzbek aldoqchi, Uyghur ئالداقچى (aldaqchi, liar).

Compare also Kyrgyz алдамчылык (aldamcılık, falseness), which is derived from the same verbal stem alda- "to lie".
