[edit]From Volga Turki قاداق (qadaq, “nail”), from *qadağ (“nail”), from *qada- (“to pierce, stick in”), apparently from a Mongolic source.
Cognate with Tatar кадак (qadaq, “nail”), Uzbek qadoq (“rivet; wooden nail”), Uyghur قاداق (qadaq, “nail; rivet”), Tuvan кадаг (kadag, “nail”).
