Old Armenian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰer-os (warm, hot). Cognate with Sanskrit हरस् (háras, flame, fire), Ancient Greek θέρος (théros), Russian гореть (goretʹ), жара (žara), Albanian zjarr. Related to ջերմ (ǰerm) and ջերմն (ǰermn).
