Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From the root פ־ס־ק (p-s-k).

Noun[edit]

פִּיסְקָה \ פִּסְקָה (piskáf (plural indefinite form פְּסֹקוֹת, singular construct form פִּסְקַת)

  1. paragraph, section, clause, passage

Usage notes[edit]

  • As with other feminine loanwords from Aramaic, the Academy of the Hebrew Language recommends [1] that פסקה be written with a ה at the end (as shown here), rather than with א (as in Aramaic). Nonetheless, the spelling with א is still common in Hebrew – perhaps more common than the recommended spelling.
