From Arabic تمساح, itself from Coptic ⲙⲥⲁϩ (msah), from Egyptian
|
mzḥ (“crocodile”). Perhaps with the singular feminine definite article ⲧⲉ- (te-), though ⲙⲥⲁϩ (msah) is a masculine word.
