Etymology[edit]
Literally: “In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the one God”. The last part is commonly added by Arabic-speaking Christians in order to counter the Islamic accusation of polytheism.

بِاسْمِ الْأَبِ وَالِابْنِ وَالرُّوحِ الْقُدُسِ الْإِلٰهِ الْوَاحِدِ • (bi-smi l-ʾabi wa-l-ibni wa-r-rūḥi l-qudusi l-ʾilāhi l-wāḥidi)
