From Tachawit ⵜⵉⴱⴻⵙⴽⴻⵔⵜ (Tibeskert), itself either a retained native Berber word or via Latin Vescera; ultimately from an unidentified native Numidian word for the site by 200 A.D., when the Roman's first captured the region.
