Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *bukagu (fetters, chain, string); cognate with Azerbaijani buxov, Bashkir бығау (bığaw), Chuvash пӑхав (păh̬av), Kazakh бұғау (būğau), Uzbek boʻgʻov and Yakut бакаайы (bakaayı).
